Hale was murdered by a team of undercover police in Wilmington, Delaware on November 6, 2006 in relation to helping with a children's charity arranged by his motor cycle club. The case is being described in light of the phenomenon of what is called a Militarized Police Force.
[edit] His DeathWhile house-sitting for a fellow club member, three unmarked vehicles pulled up and 8 - 12 armed men dressed in black rushed Hale who was sitting outside on the porch. Witnesses state that the officers had no police insignia on their cars or clothing and never announced themselves as police officers. He was tasered three times as officer ordered him to raise his hands. The electric shocks had incapacitated Hale on the ground to the point he was twitching, convulsing and vomiting. Lt. William Browne of the Wilmington Police then fired 3 shots into his chest at point blank range.
[edit] Law SuitThe wife of Sgt. Hale has filed a law suit naming more than 30 defendants including state and city police as well as individual officers.
