A fairy, or faerie, is a small creature, often depicted with wings. Although believed to be a mythological creature there are people through out history that claimed to have seen them. They are believed to have magical powers that can grant people wishes. They are believed to have fairy dust in which they sprinkle people with. In the movie Peter Pan, it is said that when the first baby laughed it broke into millions of pieces and turned into fairies.

The tales of fairies are world wide. They are seen in extremes of good and bad, depending on the folklore and area. Tinkerbell is probably the worlds most famous fairy. She is a icon that is associated with the Walt Disney Company. Walt Disney has made many movies that have fairies in them, the most popular being Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, and Pinocchio. The fairy lives in the world that includes, elves, gnomes, trolls, leprechauns, and similar creatures. Generally seen as small human type creatures with wings and are most often portrayed as female. They have become quite popular in recent trends in figurines and knick knacks, along with the dragon folklore. Most fairies are shown living in forests or fields. The expanse of ideas of what a fairy may look like has no end. It is believed that if you say that you don't believe in fairies that one will die. The only way to save a fairy is to clap your hands and say I believe. The Cottingley Fairies were supposedly actual fairies that five photographs were taken of. This story was made into a movies as well, 'Fairy Tale: A True Story'. This has been a highly controversial story, even to this day
