In many cultures and religions, it is believed that the essence of a being such as the 'soul' continues to exist and may remain at a particular location. Some philosophical and religious views state that the discarnates of those who have died have not 'passed over' and are trapped within the property where their memories and energy are strong. Other causes may be residual energy left by individuals. Such residual energy may actually be contributed by living individuals.
