JFK Conspiracy TheoriesFrom TinWiki.org
Lee Harvey Oswald was arrested shortly after and charged with the murder of the President. Oswald was shot on national television two days later while being transferred to a nearby jail. A few days later, Lyndon Johnson, JFK's successor, appointed the Warren Commission to investigate the Assassination. It concluded that Oswald killed Kennedy and was the lone gunman. No autopsy was performed in Dallas. Rather, the body was autopsied at the National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, Maryland. [1] During the 1970s, another commission was appointed to investigate the murder of the President. The House Select Committee on Assassinations (HSCA) also decided that Oswald was the assassin but also concluded that a conspiracy existed. However, they did not find enough evidence to name any of the alleged conspirators. In 1991 "JFK", a movie by Oliver Stone, was released. It was based on New Orleans DA Jim Garrison's investigation into the Kennedy assassination. Garrison's finding differed greatly from the official government reports. In 1992 the President John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection Act of 1992 was created. It established the Assassination Records Review Board, an independent federal agency designed to oversee the identification and release of records related to the assassination. As a result of this, there were many secret documents declassified during the 1990s. This also breathed new life into the many conspiracy theories about the JFK assassination. In 1994 Robert G. Vernon, a television producer, videotaped the confession of James E. Files. In this interview, Mr. Files confessed that he fired the fatal last shot into the right front temple of John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963 in Dealey Plaza. [2] [3]
