Throughout the centuries people have used the Term Jihad as a form of religious war, where Muslims launch Jihad against none Muslims.

This concept has been used by extremists like al-Qaida to get Muslims to attack western interests and those interests of none Muslims and those Muslims who live in none Muslim environments.

The true concept of Jihad seems to be lost or completely ignored by its use for WAR and destruction over the last few years as it has been thrown around by the media and various terrorist groups to push their agenda across.

True Meaning

Jihad means struggle

An example of this is when a Muslim fights his urges to do something that is wrong or when someone try’s their upmost to succeed in life to improve who they are, One of the best Jihad is the word of Truth in the presence of injustice.

In War

"Fight in the cause of Allah those who fight you, but do not transgress limits; for Allah loves not transgressors." Qur'an, Chapter 2, verse 190.

The right to declare Jihad when a people struggling against Oppression which stops them from practicing ones faith or defending ones homeland.

When one has Declared Jihad and it is for true cause, one must always practice it within the guidelines of the Quran.

Declaring Jihad on an enemy doesn’t mean one can just attack anyone he/she feels like. There are rules to defending one’s self and family which must always adhered to.

This goes onto the Rules of war during Jihad and is similar to the Geneva Convention

The reason I compare it to the Geneva Convention is because it used most of its values before the convention was drafted up.

Don’t harm civilians.

Don’t destroy the property and crops.

When one finds a fallen enemy and is need of medical help, help them and treat them well.

"Stop, O people, that I may give you ten rules for your guidance in the battlefield. Do not commit treachery or deviate from the right path. You must not mutilate dead bodies. Neither kill a child, nor a woman, nor an aged man. Bring no harm to the trees, nor burn them with fire, especially those which are fruitful. Slay not any of the enemy's flock, save for your food. You are likely to pass by people who have devoted their lives to monastic services; leave them alone" As one can see to launch true Jihad one must follow many guidelines and it’s not as simple as its made out to be in this day and age.
