Lemmings

Lemmings are an animal in the rodent family found in nature that have the herd mentality when scared. Used in the connotation in the conspiracy theory world as a description of blindly obedient people, the mentality of lemmings is similar to people who know no better, an animal like the lemming is known to "go with the flow" even to its own detriment when following like-minded beings without question through the fight or flight mentality. People can be equivilated to lemmings in that they blindly panic like lemmings, who are known to run headlong off of a cliff without thought for self-preservation.
