Madame Blavatsky

From TinWiki.org

Helena Petrovna Blavatsky, or simply Madame Blavatsky, is the esotericist who started the Theosophical Movement. She was born on August 12 1831 at Dnepropetrovsk in the Ukraine. Around the age of 18 she married Nikifor Blavatsky, who was much older than her. This may have lead to her extensive travels through the lands of the Mediterranean, including Egypt, Greece, and Turkey. Not long after that she spent a great deal of time in what was then India. She and her movement popularized eastern religions and philosophy in the West. Madame Blavatsky is the author of many books, such as Isis Unveiled and The Secret Doctrine, which spell out the ancient and divine knowledge imparted to her by otherworldy esoteric Masters she was in communication with. She died May 8 1891 and her remains are stored in Surrey, England. Her Theosophical movement has grown since her death and continues to this very day.
