Magic Bullet Theory

The Magic Bullet Theory (objectively known as the Single Bullet Theory) is a name used to refer to Warren Commission member Arlen Specter's explanation of how all of the wounds inflicted during the shooting of John F Kennedy were inflicted by only three shots from Lee Harvey Oswald's rifle. This theory was endorsed by the Warren Report, but is highly controversial. The theory attributes seven wounds to a single bullet. For the theory to be accurate a series of seemingly unlikely ricochets and deflections would need to have occurred. If the theory is not accurate, it would seem necessary to concede that additional shots were fired, presumably from a second shooter in a different position.

Wounds

The wounds attributed to the magic bullet are in the following locations:

• The rear of President Kennedy's neck (page 91, second to last paragraph [1])
• President Kennedy's throat
• Governor Connally's armpit
• Governor Connally's chest
• The back of Governor Connally's wrist
• The inside of Governor Connally's wrist
• Governor Connally's thigh.(page 95, last paragraph ibid)

The only wound involved in the assassination not credited to this bullet is the head shot to President Kennedy.
