Metaterrestrial is a New Age style notion of lifeforms whose origin might be Earth or elsewhere, but who reside on some other plane of existence, astral plane, other dimensions, or in other realities. As such, some or all UFOs or aliens may have metaterrestrial origins.

Metaterrestrials may be higher order or spiritual beings. It is possible that ancient peoples came into contact with these beings, thus spawning stories of such entities as angels, djinn, and gods. The home of these beings may be what came to be called Heaven or Shambhala.

It may also be that metaterrestrials originally evolved from lifeforms in our physical Universe and have since ascended to a higher metaphysical form.

Some have conjectured that Greys are metaterrestrial in nature.
