OnstarFrom TinWiki.orgOnStar is a device placed within vehicles utilizing a global positioning system and cell phone technology to track a vehicle and it's systems to provide a service through a subscriber based program owned by General Motors.
[edit] ServiceThe service provides real-time communications with an OnStar operator during emergency situations, vehicle diagnostics, and directions through an advanced mobile phone system. OnStar is currently offered both within the United States of America as well as Canada. OnStar was began by ExtremeBlue an intern program under IBM. The OnStar system is known to automatically contact representatives of the company in the likelihood of airbags being deployed in the instance of a collision. Beginning in 2009 all General Motors vehicles will be equipped with a automatic vehicle slowdown device, or Stolen Vehicle Slowdown, which will authorize Law Enforcement officials to slow down the vehicle in order to apprehend the vehicle thief or in the extreme case potentially anyone known to be in the vehicle.
[edit] ConspiracyIn the conspiracy theory world, OnStar is assumed and hotly debated to be similar to a jet's "Black Box recorder" that records data and transmits vital statistics to Law Enforcement as well as Government in order to track people everywhere they go. The subscriber can unsubscribe to the service if they so choose but conspiracy theorist's understand what their direct counterparts in society being what they term as sheeple do not, that whether you subscribe or do not, that OnStar can still track you. What conspiracy theorist also know about OnStar is that if the system can track you, whether you subscribe or not, it can not only unlock your vehicle's car doors as well as lock them, and as well as all of it's services are reversable as well as listening to their customer's private conversations while the unassuming customer may be discussing their private lives. It is assumed in the conspiracy theory world that OnStar will be initiated permanently into all vehicles under Congressionally Mandated Law in order to preserve planet Earth under the "Go Green" initiative through the hybrid car fad and will make Law Enforcement and Government easier to enforce laws whether they are agreed with or not similar to "pre-crime" in the hit science fiction movie "Minority Report" where the main character's vehicle is disabled. It has also often been assumed that the statistics, including speed, direction, as well as location will be submitted to vehicle insurance companies in order to streamline their services and in essence also make traffic collision disputes virtually obsolete, which will also give vehicle insurance companies better data collection in order to raise the customer's rates at any time whether a traffic violation is recorded by a Law Enforcement Officer or not, making Law Enforcement Officer's routine traffic stops unnecessary because a speeding ticket can be sent via mail along with an insurance policy change/rate increase similar to traffic light cameras.
