A deleted sentence

The following sentence was today deleted from the article by an anonymous user: "War on Terror detainee Jose Padilla was once a enemy of the ALK."

Is it "common knowledge" that this sentence is either irrelevant or not factual? I feel deletions of material should always be explained with a sentence or two in the article's discussion page. Optimist 02:34, 9 February 2008 (CST)
