 The fabled 'Black Pyramid'.

The legend of
The Black Stone Pyramid is not considered to be a well-known one. The legend states that somewhere in the Egyptian desert, there are/were the largest pyramids of the Egyptian rule. These legends also relate that the Gods built these pyramids before humans were living in Egypt from an unknown black stone. Each pyramid was almost double the size of
The Great Pyramid in Giza with similar build. The only differences besides size and color were that the pyramids were topped with a ruby-red gem larger than most we know. In this legend it is said that the pyramids were smooth, (the other three pyramids of Giza are rough as the limestone covering was removed over time as most older structures were used to build new ones.) In AD 1301, a massive earthquake loosened many of the outer casing stones, which were then carted away by Bahri Sultan An-Nasir Nasir-ad-Din al-Hasan in 1356 in order to build mosques and fortresses in nearby Cairo. The stones can still be seen as parts of these structures to this day. Later explorers reported massive piles of rubble at the base of the pyramids left over from the continuing collapse of the casing stones, which were subsequently cleared away during continuing excavations of the site. Nevertheless, many of the casing stones can be seen to this day in situ around the base of the Great Pyramid, and display the same workmanship and precision as has been reported for centuries. Today one can see the rough finish, being that there was no limestone covering and the black stone was made to be doubled as one.
A scientist or Egyptologist occasionally takes the legend seriously, but no major expeditions have been started. However, Napoleon Bonaparte I did send a small group of men in search of something after retrieving the Rosetta Stone in his expedition to Egypt. The party never returned, most likely losing their way in the desert and dying of dehydration or starvation. Also, no Black Pyramids have been found in satellite imagery of Egypt, leading most to believe that the Black Pyramids are nothing but Egyptian folklore.
