The MatrixFrom TinWiki.org
The Matrix is a 1999 feature film. The film became extremely famous, both for its story and for its amazing visual style, and many of its notions and visual elements became part of popular culture. A particular special effect of the film, called "bullet time", was practically revolusionary and later became imitated by others, both in movies and in video games. The film's story was also the center of much attention, with its philosophical aspects and many cultural refences, among them some references to the Bible. Some Christians recommended The Matrix because of its story and references. The film was followed up by two sequels. Among the numerous topics in the film, one the most central is that of a conspiracy against humanity, perpetrated out of sight by entities appearing human but with their own agenda and goals. It can therefore be said that, even while taking into account the many interesting ideas presented in the film, the most pertinent and relevant interpretation one can make of The Matrix is that it displays an interesting metaphor for the devious scheming being done by psychopaths and conspiratorial secret societies, against humanity. In this way it could be said that the film has more in common with The Truman Show (1998) than with The Thirteenth Floor (1999) even though the latter also deals with the topic of a virtual world inside a computer, and the former does not. [edit] CastPlaying some of the most central characters are Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburne, Carrie-Anne Moss, and Hugo Weaving. [edit] See also[edit] External links |
