The Phoenix LightsFrom TinWiki.org
The Phoenix Lights are one of the most talked about incidents in the UFO community. It is one case that even today is still being discussed and analyzed. This case has a lot of supporting evidence with photo’s, video footage and reports on various news stations.
[edit] The SightingsMarch 13th 1997 seems to be when this extremely compelling account of various and sundry phenomenal lights which moved over the state of Arizona. The lights were originally spotted over Superstition Mountains, east of the city, at about 7:30 PM, and was later spotted in at least five cities other than Phoenix. The first reports indicated that the lights appeared to be travelling in a hexagon pattern they described the objects appeared to have six points of light immediately followed by a report indicating that it had eight connected lights, with a separate ninth, which moved in unison with the eight. [edit] V Formation In FlightA V formation of five to seven orbs were seen leaving the Henderson-Las Vegas area and enter Arizona. They were described by various eyewitnesses as being either bright blue-white or yellow-white in color. The orbs entered through Prescott Valley at 7.50pm at low altitude, turning south. They were video taped at the North end of the Valley that includes the Phoenix metro area appearing to display various movements within the formation. The formation of orbs were seen moving along interstate 10 going towards Tucson after being spotted following air traffic coming in on approach to Sky Harbor International Airport by witnesses. They were seen hovering for several minutes over a car full of people driving North on Interstate 10 and were also seen by observers in the Oracle area who commented that the orb’s color had been red to red-orange. They also said that the formation split up, going in separate directions. As well as this formation various orbs were seen individually shooting across the metro Phoenix valley, they were also seen moving away from and reattaching themselves to a larger object that was spotted later that night. [edit] Witnesses and Large Craft ReportsWhat was thought to be another V formation of white orbs turned out to be a single large object that was travelling slowly and silently toward Prescott Valley from the northwest at about 8:15. This object was dubbed the ‘Chevron’. This large craft made a pivot turn over one witness’s home. The light shifted from the V formation into the shape of an arc, the lights turned red and the ship suddenly shot of towards the Phoenix area as what was described as blinding speeds (estimated as being at mach 2 to 3). As the large craft slowed back down again it was seen to change back into a V shape, whereupon it carried on cruising silently and slowly over witness’s heads. The craft was later seen to be zig zagging through the valley changing altitude at various points and appeared to be hovering at the edge of Sky Harbor for several minutes. The craft proceeded to go south flying right over the Village Labs, building towards interstate 10. The giant craft, which was estimated at 900’, or more on each leading edge and more than a mile in length to its 'taillights', was seen hovering for ten to fifteen minutes after it followed interstate 10 several miles towards Picacho Peak. This was thought to be a docking point by some people for this craft and another giant triangle shaped one that followed it down interstate 10 approximately fifteen minutes later. [edit] The Second Large ShipAnother large object was seen also flying in a V formation by witnesses in the Prescott area they described the object as being equivalent to a formation of five 747s flying absolutely lock step in formation toward Phoenix. This same large object was later seen by an American West Pilot who called Sky Harbor tower wondering what "those nine lights were", it was also seen by an amateur astronomer in Phoenix who wrote it off as a formation of conventional airplanes. [edit] The Large Flying TriangleThe large triangle described as having a definite structure to it complete with panels in a grid pattern along with lights at each of the three corners and a larger center light, was seen by a Mesa family and other at approximately 8:45 to 8:55. Various witnesses observed it going northwest to northeast through the eastern part of the valley. Witnesses also claimed that they saw one or more orbs leaving and later re-attaching to the triangle, this craft was also seen to split into two pieces as it headed towards the Tucson area at around 9 PM that night. This was the last report of witnesses observing this craft. [edit] The Largest ObjectThe largest object seen on March 13th was spotted from close range over north Phoenix between 8:30 and 8:45 PM. Witnesses stated that the object was as large as two miles wide, whilst flying low to the ground. At one point witnesses stated that they observed dozens of light along its leading edges and a row of windows where it appeared that there was silhouettes of people standing there observing them. At some point further south, other witnesses reported that they saw nothing but the row of windows with beings (also in silhouette) as all of the lights were off at that point. The object was later spotted over interstate 10 south of Casa Grande and it was observed that three large lights had been turned on, one at each corner, with smaller lights along the leading point light. One witness stated that it took him a few minutes to drive underneath this large ship and they were driving at 80 mph. They stated that the width of this huge object was at least two, possibly three miles wide and big enough for a C5-A Galaxy or 'Condor' troop transport (the largest conventional aircraft known) to land upon it. The craft was described as being flat blue-black in color 'like the color of a shotgun barrel'. The craft was later spotted in north Phoenix at 9:30pm during one of the military jet/UFO interception attempts. [edit] The Giant DiscVarious witnesses including a retired airline pilot and his family observed a large disc coming down Scottsdale Road at approximately 10:20pm. This huge craft described as having amber lights around its perimeter and estimated as being one mile in diameter was seen turning towards Sky Harbor where it intersected air traffic before it disappeared over South Mountain. A witness in central Phoenix who was also a former pilot and a retired U.S Marshal stated that the craft ‘’both reflected the city lights on its underbelly and blocked out the stars with its upper half, attesting to its being a single craft of spectacular, "mile-wide" proportions’’. He also said that he videotaped this craft from his apartment building but his tapes had disappeared in what some have described as genuine Men In Black episode. It is thought that this craft may have been attached to the ‘Chevron’ craft and it was hidden from view under some type of stealth mode. Another set of witnesses who described the craft as being ‘'bigger than Sun Devil Stadium at ASU’ stated that they saw it hovering at treetop level at the west end of the Sky Harbor runways at between 2 and 3 am two weeks before the March 13th sightings. [edit] The Flare TheoryLuke AFB Public Affairs Office in May of 1997, stated that they and Air Force personal had conducted an investigation into the UFO sightings and had solved the case. They claim that flares dropped from an A-10 Warthog had been the cause of the reports of night-light. Many have came forward and said this explanation is absolute nonsense and went on to state that: Flares do not move in unison, fall toward the ground, and then fly back up into the air, and move across many miles without changing their relative positions. Another down fall in the investigation is that many witnesses came forward with the reports of the lights before the reported time of the launch of the flares. Sightings over the Phoenix area have continued to this day, supported by many photographs and video. [edit] External Links
