TinWikiFrom TinWiki.org
tinWiki is an online encyclopedia which can be edited by its users since it is a wiki. The encyclopedia has a narrow, defined area of focus: conspiracies and conspiracy theories and conspiracy theorists, ghosts and the paranormal, lost civilizations, UFOs, and possible extraterrestrial life. tinWiki is an off-shoot of AboveTopSecret, a large website and debate forum with the same focus as tinWiki. The ATS community itself has however not generally shown great interest in the tinWiki project. tinWiki uses the same software as the famous encyclopedia wiki Wikipedia, but is in no way affiliated with Wikipedia.
[edit] Main goalsThe "alternative knowledge" community is said to lack structure and that this causes what is called "reinventing the wheel", which is to say that the same information is re-created multiple times independently (even after it has been shown that the case at hand is based on hoaxing). It has been expressed that tinWiki is suited to serve as a forum for those interested in alternative knowledge topics, to offer a place to debate and collaborate in creating a body of data based on the information and knowledge available. [edit] AboveTopSecret.com affiliation
tinWiki is sponsored by the owners of AboveTopSecret.com, one of the most popular Internet discussion forums for alternative topcis. So far [September 2008], the ATS forum users have generally not taken a great interest in the wiki, but some of the members in the ATS art forum have contributed numerous illustrations to tinWiki's articles. tinWiki has a policy of listing relevant ATS discussion threads in articles.
Wiki Master William One Sac is also an ATS forum administrator, and ATS forum users who have special titles in tinWiki have a special tinWiki badge appearing under their usernames in their ATS forum posts. [edit] CriticismSome feel that the name "tinWiki" is not suited for being taken seriously. [edit] See also[edit] External links
