USS Cole suicide attack

The USS Cole (DDG 67) suicide attack was a suicide bombing that occurred on October 12th, 2000. The target was a US Navy destroyer, the USS Cole. The attackers approached the vessel in a small craft. Seventeen sailors were killed and a further 39 injured. The ship was harbored in the port of Aden, in Yemeni.

Responsibility For Attack

The United States Government has blamed the attack on the Government of Sudan. The Sudanese have denied this claim and have fought for an appeal on the decision, and to this date they have not paid any ruled reparations to the families of the seamen killed or injured.
