Zeta Reticuli is a binary star system that first reached notoriety when Betty Hill first described it in 1961. Located around 39 light years from the earth, it contains two sun-like stars. It is alleged to be the home of the Greys, an alien species. While under hypnosis in 1964, Betty Hill drew a map of the star system made up of 14 stars. Ufologist Marjorie Fish found a good match for the system in Zeta Reticuli. Many researchers, including astronomer Carl Sagan debated the findings, saying that random chance would account for at least one match. Later Robert Lazar claimed that UFO's at Area 51 were from Zeta Reticuli. Most recently, Zeta Reticuli was implicated in the Project Serpo conspiracy.

Hot Jupiter

In 1996, some early evidence suggested Zeta 2 was being orbited by a Hot Jupiter. However it was later found that the star has pulsations that were misinterpreted. A Hot Jupiter is a planet the size of Jupiter or larger that orbits a star very closely. It is thought that star systems with a Hot Jupiter probably do not harbor life supporting planets. The reason is that it is theorized that the planet starts out far away and slowly spirals into the star, sweeping up anything in its path.
